Teacher-Student Deep Emotions Facilitate Mutual Development


On the morning of September 6th, 2014, in the 35th anniversary of the discipline development of Systems Science, the Inaugural Conference of the Alumni Association and the First Session of the First Council of the School of Systems Science was held in Jingshi Academy. People that have attended the meeting included Leng Xueshi, leader of the Alumni Association; Di Zengru, dean of the School of Systems Science; Li Honggang, secretary of the School of Systems Science; Han Zhangang, vice dean of the School of Systems Science; Wang Yougui, director of the Academic Committee of the School of Systems Science; Zhou Ya, assistant dean of the School of Systems Science and director of MPM Center; Li Keqiang, former director of the Department of Systems Science; Yang Chengyu and Cai Wei, former secretary of the Department of Systems Science; teachers of the School of Systems Science and alumni representatives of all sessions. This meeting was presided over by Secretary Li Honggang, who is in charge of alumni affairs.


Director Leng Xueshi, on the behalf of the Alumni Association of the university, announced the establishment of the Alumni Association of the School of Systems Science and extended warm congratulations. She encouraged teachers, students and alumnus, based on the existing significant achievements and bearing the goal of launching a world-class university, to make joint efforts, with the hope of facilitating the long-run development of the school and the university and that of Systems Science as a discipline.


Dean Di Zengru then made an ebullient speech to welcome all the alumnus back to Beijing Normal University before the Mid-Autumn Festival. He reviewed the development history of Systems Science as a discipline and that of the school, reported the achievements in terms of discipline development and personnel training ever since the establishment of the school, and put forward ardent expectations for the Alumni Association of the School to serve alumnus and support the school.


Secretary Ling Honggang reported preparation and operation of the Alumni Association of the school to participating leaders, teachers, students and alumnus. He proposed objectives of the Alumni Association of the school: to reinforce connections between alumnus and the school, alumnus and alumnus, and the school and society with the hope of promoting solidarity, cooperation and friendship; to serve the alumnus by providing supports to their career development with resources superiority of the school in personnel cultivation, scientific research and academics; to use the extensive influence and functions of the alumnus to publicize development of the school and its disciplines and to promote the school’s development in personnel cultivation, disciplinary research and social services. Then, participating members of the council talked about their recent development after graduation and provided suggestions for the work of the Alumni Association of the school.


Participating members of the council approved Regulations of Alumni Association of the School of Systems Science, and elected the General Council by ballot. The General Council comprises Di Zengru, Gao Liang, Guan Xiaojing, Hu Yanqing, Li Honggang, Li Xiaomeng, Liu Ge, Shen Yi, Wu Chensheng, Zhang Chi and Zhang Peng, all together 11 members. In the First Session of the First Council that was held in the afternoon, it decided that Di Zengru held the post of Head of Alumni Association of the school, Li Xiaomeng held the post of General Secretary, and the post of Vice Head was held by Gao Liang, Guan Xiaojing, Hu Yanqing, Li Honggang, Li Xiaomeng, Liu Ge, Shen Yi, Wu Chensheng, Zhang Chi and Zhang Peng. It decided to establish Office of Alumni Association of the school and Li Xiaomeng was in charge of affairs of Office.


The establishment of Alumni Association of the School of Systems Science was strongly supported by alumnus of all sessions, and some alumnus came specially to participate in the conference from places outside Beijing. At the conference, alumnus talked on and on. Participating alumnus extended their gratitude to the school and teachers therein for years’ cultivation and care, and expressed expectations for the operation of the Alumni Association. They hoped that the Alumni Association could serve as a platform where supports could be given to alumni career development, the school’s development and personnel cultivation, by means of the council, alumni forums, alumni lectures and communication meetings. It called on alumnus, under the direction of the council, to strengthen contacts and to provide suggestions and make endeavors for the development of the school.
